We’re slowly adapting to life with a newborn again. I forgot how draining it is to be woken out of a dead sleep several times a night. It’s not too bad now since I’m off work and can nap some during the day, but when I go back to work, I think it’s going to be tough. Lily’s temperament is definitely not the same as Henry’s at this age. She’s much quicker to get upset, but also quicker to calm down.<\/p>\n
I had a classic clueless parent moment last night. She started fussing and got more and more worked up, probably the worst I’ve seen her so far. We started running through the options. Hungry? No. Gassy? No. Too hot\/too cold? No. Dirty diaper? No. Then I noticed that her cord stub had disappeared. I started searching through her footed sleeper and found it in one of the feet. It’s dried up (thanks to goldenseal) and must have been poking her. Once I removed it, she looked at me like, “I was using my somethings-poking-me-and-I-don’t-like-it cry. Thank god you finally figured that out, dummy. ” Yep.<\/p>\n
