Ok, so normally I wouldn’t plug those carpetbagging ice cream hippies over our local favorite, but we’re talking free here, so I don’t feel like I’m cheating.
The free cone giveaway is from noon to 5pm 8pm today. I tried to go to their web site to get you links to the local locations, but it appears that everyone on the planet is trying to do the same thing and has brought their server to its knees. If I recall correctly, there’s one just north of Braker on the east side of Mopac in the same shopping center as Yoga Yoga and Tacodeli. There’s also a location at 5th and Lamar, but good luck trying to park around there.

Have you seen this Amy’s brouhaha at the Consumerist?

Crazy.
No, I hadn’t heard about it, but I can understand both sides of the debate.
P.S. What’s up with that website and the styling? I had to substitute my own CSS just to read the damn thing.
Yeah, I don’t know who designed the site. It’s very dark. I don’t visit the actual site often since I mainly read their feed.
I went to the 5th and Lamar store to get my free cone and it was packed – They were serving free cones until 8:00 P.M. at that location.
I made a mistake when I said 5pm. They were all doing it until 8pm.
We hit the Burnet/Mopac store right around noon and we were the only ones in the store. I opted for Chunky Monkey, but should’ve tried that new Baklava flavor. Mmmmmm…baklava.
The two charities represented there were SafePlace, who reminded us that they take old cell phones as donations, and Susan G. Kamen Breast Cancer Foundation.
