Wow. I just saw the news on Statesman and News8Austin that Dennis Johnson, coach of the NBA Development League Austin Toros, died today at the age of only 52.

Anybody my age remembers DJ as point guard for the Celtics. I’d been meaning to get down to the Convention Center and check them out, especially with DJ at the helm. I guess I’ve missed my chance. My condolences to his family and the team.

My husband said the same thing!

Has the cause of death been released yet?

  2. DJ was a good friend and I,will miss him. We call him the Helicoper because of his ablity to get off the ground. At Pepperdine he would jump center tap at only 6’4. DJ was all-ways a great role model for all of us that followed after his from LA. Harbor College he will be missed. Best wishes to his family
