Just to show that we’re not all about SXSW over the next couple of weeks, there are two notable events this weekend in Austin unrelated to SXSW.
First, the second Apple store will open at The Domain in north Austin on Friday at 10am. Dave Thorup trekked out there and took some photos yesterday of the final preparations.
Second, Dennis Kucinich will be in town on Saturday to campaign for another presidential bid. Dennis doesn’t have much of a chance, but you’ve got to give him credit for being against the Iraq war from the beginning. He’ll be right downtown amongst all of the SXSWi geeks (including me), so you might have a hard time spotting him.
Update: According to our Seattle Metblog, Starbucks will be giving away free coffee on Thursday, March 15, a little help with that hangover from Wednesday night.

Thanks for letting people know about the upcoming visit of Dennis Kucinich. But why do you feel the need to preface your remarks about Dennis Kucinich with “Dennis doesn’t have much of a chance”?
What makes you say that? Particularly since you then proceed to point out that he was the only presidential candidate who voted against the 2002 Iraq War resolution and against every war-funding bill since. Yes, you’ve got to give him credit for that, and therefore for not having to apologize to the American public — unlike Edwards, Clinton, Obama, Biden, etc.
In my book, the courage he has shown on this issue makes him a much more favorable candidate than any of those who were “misled” by the likes of George Bush.
His only second place showing was in Hawaii in the 2004 primaries. He was third or worse in all of the other states. That showing means that he’s probably not a contender now even though his position (one that I shared from the beginning) on the Iraq war has become the common opinion.
Isn’t Obama in the same company as Kucinich? That’s his edge over Hilary.
Honestly, I agree with many, but not all of his positions. I just don’t see how he can stand up to the money machine of Clinton or Obama.
I’m still wondering how Kerry won the nomination last time.
And F- George Bush.
And then there’s this.
