SXSW Music: Last Chance for Wristbands
I just got the text message that the last round of wristbands are going on sale tonight at 7:30pm. It’s $175 cash only and they’ll insist on putting the wristband on you at the time of the sale.
You can get them at Bourbon Rocks, Buffalo Billiards, Elysium, Habana Calle 6 Annex, Maggie Maes, The Parish II, Lamberts, Momos, Opal Divine’s and Jovitas.
For the out of towners, the first six are on or near 6th street and east of Congress. Lamberts is west of Congress at 2nd and Guadalupe. Momos and Opal Divines are farther west on Sixth, almost to Lamar. Jovitas is the only location south of the river and they’re on South First.
Good luck with that.
Zune This!
Xeni at BoingBoing points to some photos over at losanjealous that appear to show a man being arrested for trying to post Zune propaganda. It looks like it happened on Sixth Street right in front of Casino El Camino.
We’ll have none of your crappy mp3 player propaganda in our city, buddy!

Michael Ruhlman and Thomas Keller rave about this place. I need to check it out when I make it back to NYC.
SXSW Sunday Day: Rock N Romp and Screenburn
Only having managed a day pass for Monday, I had to get creative with my participation in this year’s SXSW Interactive. I decided to hit Austin Rock N Romp, relocated to Mohawk from the usual Ruta Maya, with my two kids. Page Maguire, who organizes Rock N Romp and also writes for Austinist, has a recap on her blog. Neal Pollack, who read from his new book Alternadad
, elaborated on the audience participation of my eldest.

SXSW Film: Greencine Recap of Conversation with Linklater
Greencine has a recap posted of the Conversation with Austin’s own Richard Linklater from a SXSW film conference panel earlier this afternoon.
After much debate and wringing of hands, we’re going to have a meetup on Monday night. As many people have pointed out, plans tend to fall apart during SXSW so we’re going with the flow.
Let’s meet at Nuclear Taco Night in Brush Square Park (Neches between 4th and 5th) at 6pm. If it’s crowded, we can move on. If we feel the need to move for no reason at all, we can move somewhere else. There’s a party at Sidebar for Lifehacker only a few blocks away. The EFF-Austin Steampunk party is at Scholz’s, several blocks (13) to the north. There’s a Mozilla/Democracy Player party in Brush Square Park as well. There’s a Creative Commons party. We’ll find something to do.
I’ll be wearing a bright red Metroblogging shirt and I’m 6’5″. I should be easy to spot. I’ll be running around SXSWi all day Monday, so grab me.
We’ll stay at least until 6:30 before moving on, so don’t be late. If you think you’ll show, e-mail me at my gmail account, my username is my first initial and last name (take that, you dirty spambots). I’ve got the same username on Dodgeball and Twitter. I’ll check in with both when we move on.
