I’ve been getting my geek on at SXSWi for the past several days. Now it’s time to shift to Rock Star Mode (TM).

6115.jpgCome see the Bad Rackets at Beerland tomorrow night at 8pm and see whether I can pull off the transition. There’s no better way to kick off four days of music. It’s the first slot on the first night. You know you haven’t already scheduled another band for that time, so no lame excuses.

There’s a ton of other cool bands from Mortville and Super Secret records on the bill as well. On top of that, we’ve got a new CD, Full-On Blown Apart, available locally at Waterloo, Cheapo,. End of an Ear and Sound on Sound. Be the first person to come up to me and mention Metroblogging and I’ll give you a free copy. If you’re the second person, maybe we can work something out.

112465753_b80622ef29_m.jpgLike many other restaurants and bars around town, Home Slice Pizza is featuring bands on their back patio starting this Thursday and going through Saturday as an alternative to the SXSW showcases. You can check out the schedule for yourself. Neal Pollack mentioned Home Slice in a recent blog entry about his appearance at the Velvet Spade last week. Their pizza’s better than the average sixth street crap, so check them out if you have the chance. All you gen-u-ine New Yorkers can tell us if it’s the real thing or not.
