Love your Willie

“The Internets” are blowin’ up with the release of Willie Nelson’s new single “Cowboys are frequently secretly fond of each other” (iTunes download). Dallas Morning News has the scoop on the song (nice job, Statesman) which was originally written by Texan turned New Yorker, Ned Sublette. The tune has also been covered by the band with the coolest name on earth, Pansy Division. Armadillo Podcast has a bit more and points to the story on BoingBoing as well.

And since I’m working myself into a SXSW frenzy, take note that Willie’s playing back-to-back shows at the Backyard during SXSW, so all you out-of-towners can get you some Willie.

Enough Kinky, let’s elect Willie!

Voting has opened for this year’s People’s Choice Web Award for SXSWi 2006. You’ll be asked for an e-mail address so that they can send you a passphrase that’ll allow you to vote once a day for your favorite until the deadline on March 3. There’re 5 finalists in 16 different categories. I’ve seen or heard of a fair number of the sites, but there’s a lot of new and interesting stuff out there. Winners will be announced Sunday, March 12th during SXSWi. Voting’s been open for a week already, so you’d better get going if there’s a favorite site you want to plug.
