End of Silence

The London Times apparently did a story this past week on John Peel and, as part of the story, revealed the contents of a box of 142 singles that were the current favorites of the legendary BBC Radio One broadcaster at the time of his death one year ago. It’s an interesting list and of particular interest to those who’ve been around the Austin music scene for the past 15 or 20 years:

78. Pocket Fishrmen (sic) – Yr story + The leader is burning (NOISEVILLE) 1989

One of my bands in college used to share a rehearsal space with Pocket FishRmen in a house behind Cain & Abel’s. I remember seeing them play UT’s East Mall and used to run into them at various clubs throughout the years. They always put on a good show. It’s nice to see them get such a cool nod.
